J.C Bakery commissioned me to do some branding for their new venture, they specifically requested some custom hand-lettering and favoured a loose, inky style, but otherwise left it to me to interpret their brand of specialist occasion cakes. I kept the looseness in the strokes but wanted them to look almost like smears of coulis and cake batter. It's not a perfectly handcrafted font, it's bespoke and handmade, just like their cakes. Below are some of the iterations done with ink and brush before composing them into various options and eventually crafting the final logo. As a new business on a low budget, they needed a brand mark that they could replicate as a stamp to quickly and cheaply brand boxes and bags. Photos of these to follow when the branding has rolled out.
